Apple TV+ has announced that Season 2 of Ted Lasso will be hitting the streaming service on July 23. The show has been one of Apple TV+’s earliest hits, with the sports comedy show getting picked up for another season with 12 episodes only five days after having a strong debut in 2020. Similarly, according to a release, the series has already been renewed for Season 3 ahead of the upcoming premiere.
The show, and its titular character, have had an incredible and unexpected fast ascent. Ted Lasso centers on and is based upon a character that Jason Sudeikis (Saturday Night Live, Eastbound & Down) first portrayed in a series of promos for NBC Sports’s coverage of the Premier League–and has recently netted the performer a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a TV Series, Musical or Comedy. In the show, Sudeikis stars as Ted Lasso, “a small-time college football coach from Kansas hired to coach a professional soccer team in England, despite having no experience coaching soccer.” Check out the trailer for Season 2 below.
