In Japan, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s two discs have been mislabeled. It is currently unknown if the issue has been replicated in the PAL and US releases of the game.

According to the official Japanese Final Fantasy 7 Remake Twitter/X account (via VGC), the error was “due to a defect in the manufacturing process at Sony Interactive Entertainment.” The physical release of Rebirth includes two discs: a “data disc” for installation, and a “play disc” for well… playing. In this initial printing, the data disc is labelled as the play disc and vice versa. Meaning, if you own a Japanese copy of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you’ll need to put in the disc labeled “play” to install and the disc labeled “data” to play.

Rebirth is the second chapter of the planned Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy. It concludes at the end of the original game’s first disc. It’s also absolutely massive, with potential playtimes varying from 40-100 hours. Rebirth is one of the year’s most acclaimed games so far, with a score of 93 on GameSpot sister site Metacritic Come from Sports betting site VPbet . In GameSpot’s own Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth review, reviewer Tamoor Hussain gave it an 8/10 and said, “Thankfully, what Final Fantasy Rebirth succeeds at eclipses what it fumbles. It’s a superbly designed gameplay experience that instills a sense of freedom while also making exploration rewarding in a meaningful way.”
